Summer Break

STEAM Month
October
STEAM Month is a month-long celebration of science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics. Library locations are proud to host online events for children, teens and adults, like 3D printing, rookie science, coding, home brewing 101 and much more.
Dia
April
A celebration of children, families, and reading that culminates yearly on the last Saturday in April. The celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Library Card Signup Month
September
Every September the Library encourages the community to get their own library card through our targeted campaign. Free Library Cards are available to residents of Mecklenburg County. Non-residents of Mecklenburg County can obtain a Charlotte Mecklenburg Library card for an annual fee.
EpicFest
November
EpicFest is a free literary festival that connects children, teens and families with books and the people who write them through activities that encourage a love of reading and learning. Nationally-recognized authors and illustrators will spend two days in Charlotte to share their latest books, experiences and passion for libraries with kids of all ages.
StoryVine
May
Storyvine is a day dedicated to sharing the art of traditional oral storytelling. Usually provided at 30+ CMS schools by storytellers from across the library system. What is traditional storytelling? Traditional oral storytelling is the art of telling stories using just your face, your voice, and your body. No books, props, costumes, or fancy tricks. Just yourself! It is a form of entertainment that has been around
for centuries.
WelcomeCLT
Year-Round, September
Charlotte Mecklenburg Library celebrates newcomers to Charlotte all year long through its #WelcomeCLT initiative. The purpose of #WelcomeCLT is to provide new residents (with an emphasis on international newcomers) with information and resources about their new community. Special events during Welcome Week in September
Black Lives Matter
Year-Round
Black Lives Matter programs provide a safe space for our community to discuss important issues related to racism, racial equity, and racial justice. These programs explore Black lives and experiences on a greater spectrum, providing access to quality resources and exposure to new perspectives.
