Join us for a vibrant and captivating fiber art display at the South County Regional Library!
Our newest exhibit displays the fiber arts of Lauren Stern. As a fiber artist and designer at LoSo Studios, an artist collective in Charlotte, NC, Lauren draws inspiration from texture and material exploration, blending weaving, mixed media, and handcrafted techniques. Her art-forward approach creates warm, intentional designs that tell layered, meaningful visual stories.
While Lauren’s art is on display through June 6th, she will also host two artists’ talks. The first, on March 21st, will be Woven Narratives: A Decade in the Making - Fiber Art, Design Process, and Storytelling. The second, on May 16th, will be From Passion to Practice: Weaving Stories into Design - Turning Creativity into Opportunity. Both events are currently open for registration online. https://cmlibrary.bibliocommons.com/v2/events?q=Lauren%20Stern
This exhibit marks the 7th installation for our Local Art Initiative, a partnership between Charlotte-based and regional artists and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.
This initiative brings art displays into public spaces, provides art education programming, and increases visibility and reach for budding artists, benefiting both artists and community members! Over the past two years, we have hosted collections from Charlotte Art League and Ballantyne Pallet, oil paintings by James Sisk, watercolor paintings by Ida Mae Irby, abstract 3D displays by Chris Georgalas, and quilts by Rachael Logsdon.
So the next time you are looking to find some warmth, connect with your community, or find inspiration in something beautiful, stop by the South County Regional Library and check out the latest exhibit from the Local Art Initiative!
