Library Re-Opening Plan

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is committed to re-opening with a safe environment. As we move from closure to a complete re-opening through a phased approach, we have four guiding principles including: safety; deliberateness; defining minimum services; and learning from others. Our plan (see below) was approved by our Board of Trustees. We look forward to resuming services and serving our customers in our branch locations. Please see below for details on the phased plan of our re-opening. Components are subject to change.

MAY 8, 2020 STATEMENT - CHARLOTTE MECKLENBURG LIBRARY  RE-OPENING UPDATE

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is finalizing its multi-phased re-opening plan, and within the next two weeks expects to announce a re-opening date for an initial phase that includes limited service at all branch locations. The re-opening plan aligns with planning and guidelines from Mecklenburg County, the State of North Carolina, and the CDC. The health and safety of our customers and staff are the highest priority variable determining when and how service will be restored. The Library is working with Mecklenburg County to acquire PPE for staff and is developing critical safety measures affecting collections materials in preparation for re-opening.

While Library locations and drop boxes remain closed, the Library is serving customers with extensive online and virtual programming, along with expanded digital resource offerings, all of which can be accessed through cmlibrary.org. All fines for materials are being waived. The Library will post further updates on re-opening plans on the Library's website and social media platforms.
