Open Education North Carolina Collection contains free, open textbooks that have been curated for the most frequently taught courses across North Carolina's 2 and 4-year colleges and universities. Faculty can adopt these Open Education Resources to save their students money and lower the overall cost of higher education.

There are four curated collections available: STEM, Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, and Business.  Open the curated collection you are interested in to view textbooks available.  You can search resources by keywords or use the filters on the left side of the page.  Click on a title to display the description and view the textbook.  Textbooks can be viewed online without an account.  If you would like to highlight passages or add notes about the textbooks, you will need to create a free account.  Information on creating an account is here.

Libby by OverDrive Magazines is a collection digital magazines offered by the library that can be read in the Libby app. Magazines can be downloaded to your computer, tablet, (including Kindle), or mobile device for offline reading. Mobile and tablet customers, download the Libby app for iOS and Android.

Getting Started

All you need to get started is your Charlotte Mecklenburg Library card number or ONE Access account number.  

 

Access the Collection

  • Click the "Access Now" button below

  • Libby is OverDrive's app, designed to get you reading as quickly and seamlessly as possible.  Learn more about Libby and find help here.

Borrowing

  • Digital magazine checkouts are unlimited.

  • When possible 3 years of back issues are avaiable for magazines.

  • The default lending period for magazines is two weeks.  The settings menu will let you customize your lending period to 7 days, 14 days, or 21 days.  

Return magazines when you are finished or they will be automatically returned when they are due so you never accumulate late fees!
