Though Charlotte Mecklenburg Library celebrates newcomers to Charlotte yearlong through the #welcomeCLT initiative, the Library will celebrate National Welcoming Week from September 11-20, 2020 with bilingual reads in English and Spanish for all ages. The purpose of #welcomeCLT is to provide new residents (with an emphasis on international newcomers) with information and resources about their new community.

This summer, the Library worked to identify ways to support our community. We know we need to do more to live up to the promises we made in our June statement that systemic racism and inequity have no place in our Library as we stand up for equity, access, inclusion, diversity and democracy.
