Teen Services

Teen Services connects youth, ages 12-18, with free resources such as library materials, creative programs, websites and databases, and volunteer opportunities. Through the transformative power of information, imagination and ideas, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library strives to inspire the teens of our community.

Additional services available include:

  • Study areas within the branches
  • Books, movies and magazines on all different types of subject, both in the branch and online
  • Free computer use and WiFi access at every branch
  • Friendly library staff to help guide you to the books and resources you need

Do you have fines? We completely understand and we have programs available to help you pay down your fines, so you can continue using the library. Simply ask a Librarian for more information.

Tutor.com includes live homework help from qualified tutors on subjects like Math, Science, English, Social Studies, and assistance for job seekers.  

Learning Express Library

Learning Express Library is an interactive database with over 25 practice tests for GED testing and standardized exams for students and professionals.


Lynda.com is an online educational site that includes over 3,000 courses (and over 130,000 videos) in popular fields like web design, web development, IT, education/instruction, media production, and business.

OverDrive eReading Room: Teen Collection

E-books, audiobooks, and videos selected specifically for teenagers with genres including young adult fiction and non-fiction, and more.

Free, one-on-one, 30 minute tutoring sessions available for 6th to 12th grade Math and Science, on a first come first served basis. Sign up starts at 5:00 on the tutoring date at the Reference Desk. This service is provided by library volunteers.
