EpicFest

Book lovers of all ages are invited to EpicFest

EpicFest is an extraordinary, free literary festival that joyfully connects children, teens and families with books and the people who write them through activities that encourage a love of reading and learning. In its sixth year, EpicFest has become a wonderful family tradition.

Nationally-recognized children’s and young adult authors and illustrators will spend two days in Charlotte to share their latest books, experiences and passion for libraries with kids of all ages.

Authors and illustrators will visit select Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools on November 3 to speak with students, and will headline a daylong literary festival at ImaginOn on November 4.

EpicFest is epic because of the amazing volunteers who make it happen. Email Chauna Wall to be a part of the magic or use the signup link here.

EpicFest is made possible through the generous support of many more corporate citizens, foundations and individual sponsors. EpicFest was created to remember and honor Jim and Elizabeth (Libby) Preston’s passion for reading, and to encourage and instill a love of reading in children.

Wordsmith: An EPIC Teen Writing Conference at SouthPark Regional Library

Saturday, November 4 from 12-3pm

Join us at SouthPark Regional Library for our first-ever writing conference just for teens! Wordsmith will be an EPIC afternoon for aspiring teen writers featuring two award-winning YA authors, Nora Shalaway Carpenter and Amber Smith. We’ll start out with a YA author panel moderated by a VolunTeen, followed by a writing workshop with our authors, then participate in a meet and greet book signing, and end with a writer roundup on our terrace! You will also have a chance to contribute to an online publication that will be posted to our CMLibrary Teens Instagram later in the month. Teens will get conference badges, bags, a book from one of the authors, and other giveaways. This is a free event sponsored by EpicFest, but spots are limited to the first 50 teens who arrive. Registration will start at 11:30am on the day of the event. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity, so put a reminder in your phone today, and we’ll plan to see you at Wordsmith on Saturday, November 4.
