Sunday Funday

Super Bowl

From 1967 to today, the Super Bowl has become a mainstay of American culture. There’s the pre-game festivities, the multi-million-dollar commercials, the half-time shows; not to mention the actual football game. So get your popcorn and your library card ready and score some of these super downloads celebrating all things Super Bowl.

Relive the highs and lows and play-by-play action of previous Super Bowls in David Fischer’s The Super Bowl or Bob MCMinn’s The Ultimate Super Bowl Book. Or get the low down on this year’s game from ESPN the Magazine.

If you think this year's New England Patriots can become the 2nd team in NFL history to win 6 Super Bowls, you’re not alone. You’ll find out for sure on Sunday, but in the meantime check out the historic pictorial journey of the 1st team to do it, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in Super Six.

Planning to put on a Super Sunday spread?  Let the library help with inspiration and recipes. From chips and dips, to chicken wings, to pizza, and hundreds of other party foods and fan favorites, we’ve got you covered.

And what’s a party without music? Get in the Super Bowl frame of mind by reminiscing on the only Super Bowl theme song to appear on Billboard’s Top 100 pop chart. The Chicago Bears’ super anthem, “Super Bowl Shuffle,” went all the way to number 41 in February of 1986.

And speaking of music, you can prepare yourself for Justin Timberlake’s halftime show with a selection of his vintage and current song hits or video collections (wardrobe malfunctions not included).

May the enjoyment of the big day tide you over until football rolls back into town in September.
