The Charlotte area has miles of trails suitable for biking. The Charlotte Greenway, located throughout Mecklenburg County, offers paved and unpaved trails, depending on your type of bike. The Carolina Thread Trail map lets you click paved or mountain biking trails. For those with bolder aspirations, head to the U.S. Whitewater Center for mountain biking. While there is a parking fee, all biking trails are free of charge if you bring your own bike. Make new friends and train for a race when you visit Weekly Rides, a list of Charlotte-area biking events.
Commute around the Uptown area from two wheels instead of four with a rental from a bike sharing program! Several companies, such as LimeBike, MoBike, OFO, and B-Cycle, have a presence in the Uptown area, making this an alternative transportation method for consideration. All you have to do is download the company’s app, find and rent a bike, and return the bike to either a docking station or a designated area.
We’ve shared some ideas of where to ride—now, how about something to read?
