More books in a child's home leads to higher reading scores, better academic performance and results in greater opportunities in life. That is why the Library has partnered with WAXN-TV to collect new and gently-used children’s and teen books through the 64U Books for Kids book drive.
64U Books for Kids is part of WAXN-TV’s 64U program, which focuses on six key elements of focus to empower and improve local educational efforts through language and literacy, mathematics, science, technology, health and wellness, and creative expression.
New and gently-used children’s and teen books can be donated at any Charlotte Mecklenburg Library location and through a special collection day hosted at the WSOC-TV/WAXN-TV Studios on Wednesday, April 18 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Donations can help increase the number of books in the homes of children through outreach efforts like the Community Bookshelf program, Summer Break Book Bucks, Little Free Libraries and partnerships with Read Charlotte and Promising Pages.
