Goodman, Allegra(2010)
The Cookbook Collector

The Cookbook Collector follows the story of two polar-opposite sisters, Emily and Jessamine. Emily is the CEO of a dot com industry that is about to go public, while Jess is a perpetual grad student and tree activist who works random jobs to make ends meet. While Emily’s company goes public and launches her career through the roof; Jess starts working for a rare book collector and seller. Both women’s lives will be changed in unimaginable ways through their jobs. Allegra Goodman does an incredible job of weaving together the stories of two sisters, the dot com boom, rare books, mystic Judaism, and family secrets in this beautifully written novel.
