Roberts, Cokie(2004) Founding Mothers: The Women Who Raised Our Nation
Cokie Roberts illuminates the contributions of the unsung heroines of the American Revolution in this non-fiction book Founding Mothers. The book covers the years from before 1775 to after 1789. It explains how these women were instrumental in the outcome of the formation of this country. Using personal journals, household ledgers, personal letters and even recipes she uncovers the hard work and hardship these women and their families endured in order to support the men who constructed the framework of this great nation. At the end of the book Cokie has sections on the Cast of Characters, Recipes and Notes that help link the Founding Fathers with their wives and brings the grassroots history to life. This book is a great addition to the study of American History.
