Reviewer Spotlight
Name: Jessica
Our reviewer of the month for February is Jessica. She is an avid reader and reviewer of both fiction and non-fiction for adults. Here are her thoughts on reading and writing reviews:
I always loved reading as a child. I was the kid who always had my nose stuck in a book! Both of my parents were avid readers and I just followed in their footsteps. Some of my favorite memories from my childhood were on Christmas day taking the candy from my stocking and some of my new books and just reading (and eating) for hours and also riding my bike up to the Matthews library to check out new books.
Now, I really enjoy reading general fiction, YA fiction and non-fiction. I didn’t get into non-fiction as much until I was in college, then my interest in women’s studies lead me to check out more non-fiction titles. Of course working for the library and seeing all the new books that come in, helping patrons and even shelving opened my eyes to so many interesting books! A few of my favorite authors include: Anita Shreve, Jodi Picoult, John Grisham, and two of my newer favorites are Jennifer Weiner and Marian Keyes.
I enjoy writing reviews for Reader’s Club because I love reading and telling other people about my favorites. I tend to read books that aren’t on the Best Seller List, so if I really enjoy these books, then I hope someone else will too. So, I hope my reviews spark someone’s interest in a book that otherwise they might have never picked up!
Thanks, Jessica!
