Reviewer Spotlight
Name: Rebecca
This month we spotlight Rebecca, who is a Teen Services Librarian, at Matthews Branch Library. She has written several fiction and non-fiction reviews for both adults and teens. Here are her thoughts on reading and writing reviews:
"My love of reading has shaped my life, right down to my decision to become a librarian. For me, reading is a way of expanding my understanding beyond my personal experiences. Through books, I can be transported a fantasy world or I can walk in someone else's shoes. When I finish a truly amazing book, I just can't shut up about it, and Reader's Club is a great way to spread the word.
I grew up reading fantasy series by authors like C.S. Lewis, Lloyd Alexander, Susan Cooper, and Madeliene L'Engle. I still can't resist newer fantasy series, like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and His Dark Materials. I read mainly teen fantasy fiction, both because I work with teens at the library, and because I simply enjoy teen literature. But I try to mix up my reading material to include realistic fiction, graphic novels, classics, and non-fiction. Currently, my favorite authors include John Green, David Levithan, Sarah Dessen, Virginia Woolf, Michael Chabon, Alison Bechdel, and David Sedaris."
Thanks, Rebecca!
