Novello Festival of Reading

From 1991 to 2009, the Novello Festival of Reading provided an opportunity to connect book lovers and authors for a unique, personal literary experience, and brought many illustrious authors to the Charlotte area, including Kurt Vonnegut, Toni Morrison, Ray Bradbury, Amy Tan, Bob Woodward, John Grisham and many others.

Though 2010 would have marked the 20th occurrence of the Library’s much-loved Novello Festival of Reading, the effects of the Great Recession and resulting budget reductions meant that many library services would have to be eliminated, and the Novello Festival of Reading would not occur in 2010.

This effort was led by UNC Charlotte professor Mark West and Pat Siegfried, a former librarian with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and current owner of Black Forest Books and Toys. Read more.

Novello has been a cherished experience for many members of the community, young and old. The Library is grateful to the many corporate and foundation supporters who have made past Novello Festival of Reading events possible.
