Skills to Pratice this Month

  • Children should be screened for common vision problems.
    • Vision problems affect one in twenty preschool aged children and one in four school aged children. In addition to regular health and dental check-ups, upon entering kindergarten, or shortly after, have your child's vision screened.

Activities
Does your child participate in sports? Does she wear appropriate eye protection? Make sure your child wears appropriate eyewear during sports, in the yard or on the court.

Toys can be dangerous to eyes if they are not appropriate for your child’s age. With your child, look at her toys and look for anything that might cause injury.

Discuss with your child how it’s important to take care of our eyes and play safely. Talk about things not to do while playing, at home and at school that could cause injury to her and others.
