Book cover Amelia Bedelia Helps Out
Peggy Parish (1979) , 40-80 pages
Illustrated by Lynn Sweat
Audience: Primary (k-3rd grade)
Category: Humor
(This book has outstanding illustrations)

Amelia Bedelia gives Effie Lou some on- the -job training as a maid at Miss Emma's. Miss Emma gives Amelia a list of chores to do, one being to stake the beans. Amelia is not exactly sure how to "stake the beans", but she proceeds to STEAK the beans by cutting a steak in 15 pieces and tying them to 15 bean plants. This is not what Miss Emma had in mind! Amelia is surely a lesson in humor as she takes a task and literally does it. She's zany. She's funny. She's Amelia Bedelia and she will have you splitting your sides with laughter!
