In mid-January, the Library will be relocating servers.
This move will temporarily impact online and telephone services for brief periods.
In preparation for the server move, the Library will begin testing on the morning of Monday, January 14th, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. This testing will make some Library web pages unavailable. The move will then occur between 5 p.m. and midnight on Saturday, January 19th, after libraries close to the public. Regional libraries, Main Library, and ImaginOn will be open on Sunday, January 20th as scheduled, with no service interruptions currently expected. Libraries will be closed on Monday, January 21st in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
During these dates, the Library’s web site will unavailable for periods of time. Customers who call their local library branch on January 21st may get a fast busy signal, and telephone renewal services will be unavailable on that day.
The Library expects to return to normal service by 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22nd. This move is part of a technology enhancement to help provide continuity of service to Library customers. By relocating library servers to Mecklenburg County`s Peak 10 Data Center, it will ensure that a power outage at Main Library will not impact bandwidth-dependent services at other library branches.
Thank you for your understanding while we continue to make your library system even better.
