  • The Library is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer. The Library will make all decisions regarding the terms and conditions of employment including the hiring, training, promoting and terminating of employees without discriminating on the basis of race, color, sex, religion or creed, national origin, sexual orientation, physical or mental impairment as defined by applicable state and federal law, veteran's status, or age.

Employee Relations

We have a strict policy which prohibits harassment, violence, threats, physical attack or property damage or actions which may create a hostile work environment.

Safety is an ongoing endeavor in which employees attend safety-related training, and each location's safety processes are continuously reviewed and updated. The Library has it's own security officers and maintains a close working relationship with the Charlotte Police Department.

Compensation

The Library strives to be a competitive employer through the administration of a successful and relevant compensation program. All employees are eligible for salary increases on an annual basis. Individual work plans are created through discussions between employees and their managers and are used to provide guidance to the employee for the coming work year and establish common goals for all employees.

The Library utilizes a market-based compensation system in which all jobs in the Library are reviewed on a regular basis to determine their worth in the marketplace. Performance excellence is a continuous, collaborative process involving employees, managers, and customers.

Training

We are in the information business, so keeping up with new ideas, trends, policies, etc. is an important part of every job at the Library. We provide a variety of training opportunities to all employees through conventional classroom methods, e-learning, conferences, and seminars. The Library is committed to keeping our employees informed and knowledgeable in order to provide reliable and accurate information to our customers.
