What Can I Donate?

  • The Library accepts gifts of gently used books and materials. These items may be added to our circulating and/or archival collection but most are sold in used book sales to generate funds for the Library. Either way, your gift benefits the Library and is greatly appreciated.


  • Materials such as works of art, office equipment, gaming consoles (X Boxes, etc) may be acceptable.


  • Not sure if your item qualifies? Call (704) 416-0618.

The Library Cannot Accept

  • Magazines
  • Encyclopedias
  • Badly damaged items

Where Can I Donate?

Please note that donations should be bagged or boxed in containers that do not need to be returned to you.
  • Main Library:
    310 N. Tryon St.
    Deliveries are received behind Main at the Library’s loading dock.
    Monday - Friday from 7am to 2pm.


  • Robinson Spangler Carolina Room:
    310 N. Tryon St.
    Your personal collection (book, photograph, map, etc) may be of historical significance to the Library’s Robinson Spangler Carolina Room. The Carolina Room is recognized as one of the prominent genealogical and historical departments in the southeastern United States with an emphasis on local state and regional materials.
